Mommy Makeover In Nash Island

Dr. CS Kim Plastic Surgery: Fairfield County’s “Mommy Tuck” Surgery Experts

While you love being a mom and you wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world, there is one thing you miss about your pre-motherhood days; your flatter, more toned belly.

There’s no doubt about it; pregnancy can have a big impact on your physical appearance. Your once slender physique and toned, tight waistline are replaced by a puffy pooch, excess skin, and stretch marks. While eating right and exercising can help you regain your pre-baby body, they can only help to an extent. To repair loose skin, weakened abdominal muscles, and deposits of fat that just won’t seem to budge, you need to take more drastic measures. A mommy makeover is a perfect solution!

At Dr. CS Kim Plastic Surgery, Fairfield County’s leading cosmetic surgery clinic, mommy plastic surgery is one of our specialties; in fact, it’s one of our most popular services. Mommy package plastic surgery incorporates several different cosmetic procedures, such as breast augmentation, liposuction, and buttock augmentation. In addition to these procedures, one of the focal points of a mommy makeover is what we like to call a “mommy tuck” or a “mommy lift”, more commonly known as a tummy tuck.

What is “mommy tuck” surgery and why it is a central component of a mommy makeover? To learn more about this popular cosmetic procedure, keep on reading and then call Dr. CS Kim Plastic Surgery to schedule a consultation with the cosmetic surgeon Nash Island, CT moms trust most: Dr. CS Kim Plastic Surgery.

“Mommy Tuck” Surgery Explained

What we affectionately call a “mommy tuck” refers to a tummy tuck or abdominoplasty. This cosmetic surgery procedure aims to flatten the stomach, reshape the abdominal region, and smooth out the waistline; it can erase stretch marks, too.

Given what this procedure can do for the mid-section, it’s easy to see what we lovingly refer to it as “mommy tuck” and why it’s a central part of our mommy package plastic surgery. During pregnancy, a woman’s midsection endures a lot. To accommodate the growing baby, the skin stretches extensively and the fascia (abdominal muscles) can become weakened. As the skin stretches, scars, or “stretch marks” are left behind. Deposits of fatty tissue can accumulate in the midsection too. All of these factors combined can dramatically alter a woman’s appearance, leaving a puffy and stretched out “mom pooch” or “muffin top”. A tummy tuck aims to correct all of these issues; hence why we call it a “mommy tuck”.

What does “Mommy Tuck” Surgery Entail?

At Dr. CS Kim Plastic Surgery, we offer two different options for as part of our mommy makeover package: a full tummy tuck or a mini tummy tuck.

A full tummy tuck, or a complete abdominoplasty, is designed to repair the entire abdominal region; above and below the belly button. During this procedure, Dr. Kim removes excess skin and fatty tissue and tightens weakened abdominal muscles. If your post-pregnancy body includes a “muffin top”, a full tummy tuck would likely be the right option for you.

The other type of “mommy tuck” surgery we offer is a mini tummy tuck or partial abdominoplasty. Instead of focusing on the entire midsection, a mini tummy tuck concentrates on the lower portion of the abdomen; the area below the belly button. Similar to a full tummy tuck, fatty tissue, and excess skin is removed and the abdominal muscles are repaired; however, only the lower part of the belly is treated. If you have that classic “mom pooch”, a mini tummy tuck may be the perfect solution for you.

Before the Procedure

Before your mommy makeover, you’ll have a consultation with Dr. Kim. Together, you’ll sit down and discuss your goals, the parts of your body that you want to improve, and the reasons why you want to have the procedure done. Dr. Kim will perform an assessment of your body, and based on your current physique and the goals you hope to achieve, he’ll recommend which procedures he thinks will yield the best results; including which type of “mommy tuck” surgery will be the best option for you: full or mini.

What Happens During “Mommy Tuck” Surgery?

At Dr. CS Kim Plastic Surgery, your entire mommy makeover – including your “mommy tuck” – will be performed as an outpatient procedure at our Fairfield County state-of-the-art, Joint Commission Accredited cosmetic surgery clinic while you’re under general anesthesia.

Dr. Kim will make strategically placed incisions in your abdomen to remove loose skin and repair weakened muscles. Liposuction will be used to remove deposits of fatty tissue from your abdomen, as well. After the procedure is finished, the incisions will be closed with dissolving sutures and you’ll be placed in a compression binder, which will aid in the healing process.

After Surgery

After your surgery, Dr. Kim will assess your condition and will provide a detailed overview of homecare practices. He’ll also provide you with medications to control any discomfort that you might experience. You’ll be asked to wear a compression binder for a certain period of time, which will help to keep swelling down and speed up your recovery.

The amount of time it will take to recover from this procedure depends on the extent of the surgery; however, on average, it takes about a month to fully recover. Once you are recovered, however, you can expect to have a flatter, more toned, and smoother midsection. In fact, the majority of women who have a tummy tuck say that their abdomen looks even better than it did before pregnancy!
