Mommy Makeover In Sasco Hill
Regain Your Pre-Pregnancy Body with a Mommy Tuck from Fairfield County’s Most Trusted Plastic Surgeon
There’s no greater joy than being a mother; however, pregnancy can really take a toll on your body. Despite all of the diet and exercise plans you have tried, those extra pounds just won’t budge and you can’t seem to get rid of that puffy tummy.
If your mom bod is bringing you down, a mommy makeover might be just what you need to regain your pre-pregnancy appearance – and restore your self-confidence. Dr. CS Kim Plastic Surgery, a leading Fairfield County cosmetic surgery clinic, has helped countless women improve their bodies after pregnancy with mommy plastic surgery.
Mommy makeovers are by far one of the most commonly requested procedures at Dr. CS Kim Plastic Surgery. With mommy package plastic surgery, our board-certified physician, Dr. Kim, can reshape your breasts, erase your stretch marks, and flatten and tone your abdominal region. Who says that you have to just accept your post-pregnancy body? With a mommy tuck and breast augmentation, you can look as good – if not better – than you did before you had children!
What is a “Mommy Tuck”?
At Dr. CS Kim Plastic Surgery, a “mommy tuck”, or a tummy tuck, is one of the central parts of our plus size mommy makeover. We also refer to it as a “mommy lift”.
As part of our mommy package plastic surgery, we offer one of two types of tummy tucks: a full tummy tuck and a mini tummy tuck. Both types of mommy tuck surgery aim to enhance the appearance of your abdominal region.
- Full tummy tuck.A full tummy tuck, medically known as a complete abdominoplasty, is designed to correct the upper and lower portions of the abdomen. During the procedure, Dr. Kim removes stubborn fat deposits and excess skin from above and below the belly button. Additionally, he tightens the abdominal muscles, which often become weak as a result of pregnancy. If you have a “muffin top”, meaning skin and fat rolls up over your pants when you bend over, we recommend a full tummy or “mommy tuck”.
- Mini tummy tuck. A mini tummy tuck, medically referred to as a partial abdominoplasty, concentrates on the lower part of your tummy. Similar to a full tummy tuck, during a mini “mommy tuck”, Dr. Kim will remove excess skin and fat deposits, but only from your lower abdominal region, or the area underneath your belly button. A mini tuck is less invasive, so the procedure doesn’t take as long and the recovery time is faster. If you have what mom’s affectionately call a “mom pooch”, a mini “mommy tuck” would be ideal for your mommy makeover.
The Benefits of “Mommy Tuck” Surgery
Full and mini tummy tucks offer a number of benefits, particularly for moms, which is why this procedure is a central component of our mommy package plastic surgery. The biggest benefit, by far, is the improved appearance the procedure provides.
During pregnancy, belly skin stretches and loses elasticity, fatty tissue develops and deposits along your abdomen, abdominal muscles are stretched out and weakened, and many women develop stretch marks, too.
Dr. Kim uses the most revolutionary surgical techniques to erase deposits of belly fat, remove excess skin, repair damaged abdominal muscles, and even erase unsightly stretch marks. The end result of a “mommy tuck” is a flatter, trimmer, and more toned waistline. After this procedure, you’ll enjoy a restored sense of self-confidence and you’ll be proud to show off your post-baby body.
The benefits of “mommy tuck” surgery aren’t just cosmetic, however; this procedure can also be medically beneficial. If you developed stress urinary incontinence (SUI) while you were pregnant (a common affliction among pregnant women), a tummy tuck can help to ease the embarrassing symptoms that are associated with this condition. A tummy tuck can also repair an abdominal hernia, something else that women commonly develop during pregnancy. And lastly, if you are suffering from poor posture as a result of the weakened abdominal muscles and excess fat and skin, a tummy tuck may be able to correct your posture, too.
How to Prepare for Your “Mommy Tuck” Procedure
During your consultation and pre-op appointments, Dr. Kim will let you know exactly what you need to do in order to prepare for your mommy tuck procedure – as well the other procedures that you’ll be having as part of your mommy makeover.
While preparations for surgery vary from patient to patient and depend on each woman’s specific situation, generally speaking, Dr. Kim will advise you to achieve and maintain your ideal weight before your “mommy tuck”. If you plan on losing a significant amount of weight post-surgery, the results of the procedure could be impacted. Additionally, if you’re taking any medications, including prescription, over-the-counter, and supplements, depending on what they are, Dr. Kim may advise you to stop taking them before your procedure.
If you smoke, you’ll be advised to stop before the procedure (Dr. Kim will let you know when). Smoking contracts blood vessels and can impede healing time. You’ll also need to have lab testing and a medical evaluation completed prior to surgery.
What to Expect After “Mommy Tuck” Surgery
Immediately after your procedure, our medical staff will bring you to a post-op recovery room, where you will be kept comfortable and your condition will be assessed. Dr. Kim will assess your incision and the overall status of your health to determine when you can return home. Before leaving our facility, we’ll thoroughly review all post-surgical self-care. Be sure to make arrangements to have someone bring you home, as you will not be able to drive. We also recommend having someone you trust to stay with you for the first 24 to 48 hours following the procedure.
Upon returning home, we advise sleeping and sitting in an upright position instead of lying down. You’ll want to have access to plenty of ice packs, which will help to control pain and swelling. Dr. Kim will provide you with a prescription for medications that will control any discomfort you may experience.
Throughout your recovery period, be sure to keep a close eye on your incision site. If anything appears abnormal, contact our office right away and we’ll advise you about what you should do.
Avoid participating in strenuous activities and lifting heavy objects until you have fully recovered. Recovery time varies for each patient, but in general, it takes about 3 weeks to fully recover from “mommy tuck” surgery.
The End Result
Once you are fully recovered, you’ll notice a dramatic difference in your abdominal region. The majority of our patients report that their tummies look even better than they did before pregnancy after they’ve recovered from a “mommy lift”. You’ll have a trimmer waistline, a more defined abdomen, and you’ll feel a renewed sense of self-confidence.
