Consultations at Cosmetic Surgery Clinics: What to Expect
Having conducted extensive research, you have selected a few cosmetic surgeons you feel will best serve your needs; board-certified physicians specializing in the procedure you are considering, and who perform surgeries at accredited facilities. Here’s your chance to meet the prospective doctors in person.
In the plastic surgery process, consultations are a crucial step. If you are serious about pursuing the procedure, it means you are serious about moving forward with it. In addition, in-person meetings are really important because they can help you decide whether plastic surgery is the right choice for you, and if so, which surgeon should perform your surgery.
When you go for a consultation, what should you expect? You might feel nervous about your first meeting with a plastic surgeon if you have never met one before. During a consultation at a cosmetic surgery clinic, here’s a basic overview of what you can expect to help ease your nerves and prepare you for the experience.
The check-in process
Checking in at the front desk is your first priority upon arrival at the facility. If you have been asked to complete any paperwork ahead of time, you will need to provide your name. It is also possible that you will be asked to fill out some additional forms. A patient portal may be available at any clinic you are visiting if they use electronic medical records.
As soon as you have signed in and completed the required paperwork, you are free to sit in the waiting room. As you wait for your turn, look around the waiting room. How clean and comfortable is it? You can enjoy reading materials, TVs, or other entertainment while waiting for an appointment in a credible facility’s patient waiting area, which is neat, tidy, well-lit, and furnished with comfortable chairs.
A Meet and Greet for Medical Assistants and Nurses
The first person you’ll meet when you hear your name is likely to be a medical assistant or nurse. Your medical history will be reviewed with him or her, and he or she will help you settle in. Your medical history information must be accurate and complete to ensure your safety. Please answer all questions honestly. Any conditions you have been diagnosed with as well as any medications and supplements you take, whether prescription or over-the-counter, should be disclosed to the medical assistant or nurse. You should also let us know if you use alcohol or recreational drugs. It won’t be a problem; you won’t be scrutinized.
Besides asking about your eating habits, exercise routines, and activities that you engage in, you’ll also be asked about your job. Providing the plastic surgeon with information about your lifestyle is just as important as providing your medical history, as it will help the surgeon plan your procedure and assist with your recovery.
It is likely that your vitals will be taken as well.
In order to determine what area needs to be transformed, the surgeon will examine it. You will be asked to change into a robe if the area is beneath your clothing – breasts, tummy, or buttocks, for example. An assistant or nurse will remain in the room during the examination.
You will be examined by the doctor thoroughly before any treatment is administered. You may be required to take measurements depending on the procedure you are planning.
Following the examination, we will ask you to get dressed and have a post-exam discussion with the doctor. During your previous conversation and examination, your doctor will discuss details about the procedure with you. It is possible that you will see a “rough draft” of how you will look after the procedure.
You should also make sure that the quote you receive includes all fees associated with the surgery.

Fairfield’s town center was laid out in the 17th century by its founders, who included Roger Ludlow. The area was divided into Four Squares, one for Ludlow, one for a minister, one for civic buildings, and one for a town common. Elements of this early division survive in the layout and placement of civic and religious buildings. The village center was burned in 1779 by British troops during the American Revolutionary War, resulting in the destruction of all of the town’s civic buildings and many houses. The district hosts a concentration of houses that did survive the military raid, and the town hall, built in 1794, is still evocative of the architecture of that period.Learn more about Fairfield Center.
