Tummy tucks: what are they?
Tummy tucks, also called abdominoplasty, are plastic surgery procedures. Flattening and reshaping the abdominal area and waistline are the objectives of this surgery. Fat and skin are removed from the abdomen by a cosmetic surgeon. A tight abdominal wall (fascia) is also a result of weakened abdominal wall muscles.
An aesthetically pleasing waistline can be achieved through a tummy tuck. Despite the fact that tummy tucks aren’t a replacement for weight loss, they can drastically improve a sagging or loose abdomen’s appearance.
The benefits of a tummy tuck
Tummy tucks can provide a number of benefits. Most importantly, it enhances your stomach’s appearance and improves your silhouette. Your waistline won’t embarrass you anymore, since you will be proud of your new and improved appearance, which leads to increased self-confidence.
It is not just cosmetic benefits that make tummy tucks so popular. There are also medical benefits to this procedure. A good posture can be improved, back pain can be reduced, and stress urinary incontinence (SUI) can be reduced by removing excess skin and restoring weakened abdominal muscles. In addition to abdominal hernias, a tummy tuck is also capable of correcting ventral (abdominal) hernias.
What are the benefits of a tummy tuck?
A reputable Fairfield County tummy tuck surgeon may be able to help you if you have excess skin in your stomach and weak abdominal muscles you cannot correct with diet and exercise. The patient must, however, meet certain requirements in order to undergo a tummy tuck. The following may indicate that you would benefit from abdominoplasty:
- Overall, you are in good health.
- As a non-smoker, you are healthy.
- Your age range is 25 to 60.
- Your skin is relatively elastic.
- Your plans to become pregnant have changed. Although pregnancy after abdominoplasty will not harm the mother or the baby, post-pregnancy tightening of loose abdominal skin may be necessary.
- Weight loss is not replaced by a tummy tuck.
- Exercise and a healthy diet are important to you.
- If you don’t intend to lose additional weight in the future, you are between 15 and 20 pounds from your ideal weight.
Before Surgery: What to Expect
You should research tummy tuck surgeons in Fairfield County before undergoing tummy tuck surgery. You should seek a plastic surgeon that is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, is experienced in performing abdominoplasties, and is affiliated with a Joint Commission accredited cosmetic surgery center. Make an appointment with a physician to discuss your objectives, learn about the procedure, and understand the surgeon’s approach.
A number of questions will be asked during your consultation about your overall health, your goals, and why a tummy tuck seems like the right option for you. During your consultation, your surgeon will also examine your abdomen. The doctors with whom you meet should devise a customized plan for your procedure based on the information you provide. To get a better idea of the results the doctors provide, ask if they can show you before and after pictures from previous abdominoplasty procedures they’ve performed on other patients. As well as providing information about what to expect during your surgery, you should also be provided with information about recovery afterward.
Once you’ve met with each tummy tuck surgeon, review the information they provided. Arrangements for the procedure can be made once you determine which one best fits your needs.
Your midsection will look flatter, more toned, and more visually pleasing after your tummy tuck surgery is complete. In addition to resolving back pain, poor posture, and stress urinary incontinence after surgery, these conditions may also be improved. Additionally, you will feel more confident due to your improved appearance.

The first written records of the areas that are now Wilton date back to 1640, when Roger Ludlow and his friends purchased land from the Indians between the Norwalk and Saugatuck Rivers and “a day’s walk into the country.” This land was called Norwalk.
The first settlers, called the Proprietors, arrived in Norwalk in 1651 and owned 50,000 acres (200 km²) in common. On the outskirts of Norwalk’s settled area, the Proprietors were allowed private ownership of land in a common planting field, but cattle, sheep, and hogs were grazed in a communal pasture area. The outer limit of this pasture approximates Wilton’s present southern boundary.
By the end of the 17th century, the Norwalk Proprietors began to sell off the northern lands for settlement. The first non-Indian settlements in what is now Wilton were in the fertile lands of the Norwalk River valley, and on the ridges of Belden Hill, Chestnut Hill, and Ridgefield Road. In order to till the lands, the settlers had to clear the forests and remove hundreds of glacial rocks, which became the stone boundary walls that are treasured today.Learn more about North Wilton.
